A new RoHS-Certification Mark: The Bureau Veritas “C Mark”

Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services is pleased to announce a new mark covering RoHS compliance against recognized RoHS regulations/standards.

From July 2006, electrical and electronic equipment sold in Europe has had to comply with the regulations of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. Many more countries and importers/retailers are also developing and implementing RoHS Regulations.

Bureau Veritas can support you in strengthening your hazardous substances free control management. Once your electrical and electronic products have been tested and certified according to the relevant RoHS requirements, you can apply on your marketing material, and in some cases your product and packaging, our new RoHS-certification mark.

What is the Bureau Veritas “C Mark”?

The voluntary Bureau Veritas “C Mark” is designed to certify the conformity of products to national, regional and international requirements related to the Hazardous Substances content of electrical and electronic products sold on various markets, eg, EU, Japan…

Bureau Veritas can partner you in achieving RoHS compliance, our 3 “C marks” should not only match and surpass your expectations, but also those of your customers:

    • Type Certification “T”, one product is fully tested against the criteria defined in the RoHS Directive. A Type Certificate is issued referring to a test report for one product representative on the production. This mark can be used on marketing materials only.
    • Batch Production Certification “B”, a full test is conducted on a batch representative of the production. In addition to the test report, a Batch license is issued to demonstrate the right to use the “C Mark”. This can be used on products/packaging within the batch assessed as well as marketing materials.
    • Full Certification “F”, for large or mass-production runs, a representative product is tested against the requirements of the RoHS Directive. The Full Certification implies factory inspection and market surveillance. The issued License facilitates HSPM certification.
What are the benefits for you?
    • The Bureau Veritas “C Mark” demonstrates the compliance of your product(s) with the requirements of the RoHS Directive and can be used to make your product more attractive when selling into RoHS regulated markets.
    • Bureau Veritas is a well respected global independent QHSE (Quality, Health & Safety, Social Responsibility and Environmental) conformity assessment body meaning this is a mark your clients will take notice of.
