    Start of operation of the 1st X-ray scanner for the Container controls at the Abidjan port authority – Ivory Coast

     

    Bureau Veritas announces the start of operation at the port of Abidjan and on March 6th 2007, of the world’s first high energy (6MeV) double tunnel X ray (30 trucks per hour).

     

    The inclusion of a scanner in the Abidjan port authority’s customs control system, combined with a risk analysis program, augurs for the Ivory Coast port sector an era of modernisation in the fight against fraud and insecurity within the framework of Trade Facilitation.

     

    Thus, operation of the scanner at the port of Abidjan will make it possible to improve:

    - The competitiveness of the port of Abidjan.

    - Customs performance

    - The flow of container traffic

    - Border security

    Start of operation of a Pre Shipment Inspection (PSI) - Mali

     

    Bureau Veritas announces the start of operation of a PSI programme in Mali on January 12th 2007.

    Bureau Veritas is mandated by the "Conseil National du Patronat du Mali (CNPM)" to implement, at a first stage, a pre-shipment inspection programme of goods imported in this country, and at a second stage, X-ray scanning of goods at destination.

     

    The scope of duties covers documentary checking and verification of quality, quantity and price of imported goods before shipment as well as assistance in customs duties and taxes valuation for collection optimization.
